See You Next Year

Well that was a fun season. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

As I type this Tim is checking into the availability of www.firebriangregory.com, Rick is telling anyone who will listen that he thinks UD can win on the road at Temple and win two games in the Atlantic 10 tournament, and I am suprisingly unfazed by this afternoon's developments.

Anyway, we basically shut this thing down when Tim left the country immediately following (but not because of) UD's back-to-back losses to St. Joseph's and Rhode Island. We were already teetering, but today's wretched performance against Duquesne pushed us (or at least me) over the edge. I'm throwing in the towel for this season. Check back in, say, early October and we might get her up and running again.

  1. I'm with you on everything except one point: checking back in October.

Now granted I don't follow recruiting that closely, but with a team losing as many seniors as this one will, should we be all that excited for next year? Obviously this year's team has underachieved, but do we think a younger team is going to be better next season?

I'm not being funny or sarcastic here, I'm really asking. I don't know. Someone explain to me why I should be optimistic for next season.

  2. @Anon: Honestly a lot of it hinges on whether or not Chris Wright goes pro. If he doesn't you're looking at a line-up of Searcy (senior), Wright (senior), Chris Johnson (junior), Paul Williams (junior), and either Staten or Parker at the point. That's still at least 4 upperclassmen in the starting 5.

If Wright goes to the league (which I now believe will happen), you're not looking as hot. That likely moves Josh Benson into the starting line-up and means depth and youth could be an issue.

  4. This poll question is bogus. What about Duquesne guard Eric Evans? Or former Flyers Charles Little and Norman Plummer? How about CBS sports columnist Gregg Doyel?

Also, the weather chick started following us first and re-tweeting our stuff all the time, so I thought it was only polite to "friend" her back.

  5. I believe everybody you just named falls under None Of The Above. Too "famous" to ever, in a billion years, give a crap what you tweet.

So you vote D. I am man enough to admit that I voted C. Self-promotion rules.

What I'd *really* like to know is how "BG's Freshly Voided Contract" got, like, 4 votes in an older poll. Unless, of course, Kevin made use of BG's Wrestling Mask, and voted multiple times under alternate identities...

  6. Charles Little is not "too famous" for anything.

You mean, how did it only get 4 votes? BG has been terrible the 2nd half of this season.

  7. Dear Kevin --

You are right. I was wrong.

I will never care about things again. The things I care about only want to hurt me.

[NOTE: I reserve the right to change my mind and start caring about things again come October and the Red/Blue Game...]

    Love,
    Rick
